Breakfast: Organic Oatmeal, 1/2 Banana, 1 tbl. Walnuts, and 1 tsp. Honey
I have struggled with my weight most of my life, it's time to get my HEALTHY back. Last year I lost 45 pounds and gained 30 back! UGGHHH!!!
My journey is going to be one of eating healthy organic whole foods and exercising.
Why organic? Like most we watched Food Inc. a few years ago and decided we needed to make changes. Then a my mom was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer making us take a closer look at what we put in our mouths and researching what was being added to our foods. The more I read the less I liked the thought of all the chemicals, so we made the change.
Expensive? Maybe not as much as you think it is, really!! It really is just a choice, would you pay $7.00 or more for a meal at a fast food restaurant, then why wouldn't you use that same money to buy organic items and make your own. In our experience we have found that buying our food at a store the specializes in organic foods like either Whole Foods or Trader Joe's is less price wise then that of a conventional grocery store that tends to mark up the prices more on their organic items. Another great way to save would be to look for store brand items, like Whole Foods has their 365 brand which is always a great deal. There are also great coupon sites like Organic Deals that keep you up on what is on sale and what coupons are out there. You can also go to directly to brand sites, like Horizon Dairy or Stonyfield Farm that always have coupons available for milk and yogurt. Then there is growing your own produce that you can freeze or can for the fall/winter months. So it can be done, just a matter of choice.
Do we see a difference? Yes, we sure do! There is a lack of chemical taste, what you don't notice any chemical taste in what you are eating now!? I challenge you to eat organic for a couple months, your taste buds will change for the better. Once you have been eating nothing but organic for a couple months try something that is not organic, let me know what you think, we could taste the chemicals in things.
Next time, I'll show you what's in my pantry. Please take time to read the lables. ~ Tami

A look in your pantry should be interesting! We started a few years ago really paying attention to what we eat and try really hard not to eat out as much as we used to, more cooking at home and when we do go out to eat, I'm hardly ever satisfied. I find myself saying, "Oh I could have made this so much better." Good for YOU Tami!

Like you stated, you can tell a difference whole, organic foods and it is so true. Now I could be dating myself but when I started eating and growing my own organic foods we would be called "earth mamas"(70's)and makes me so happy to see how far organics have come. And good luck with your battle. I too have struggled but I can say I'm healthy due to my eating lifestyle. And you should too.
